Nîmes Community Protests Prosecutor’s Claims in Fatal Shooting of 21-Year-Old

The relatives of the 21-year-old young man killed by a bullet to the heart in the Chemin-Bas d’Avignon reject the allegations of the Nîmes public prosecutor, Eric Maurel, according to which the initial elements of the investigation would indicate that Anis Kambouch would be involved in "illicit activities".
According to testimonies from friends in the Chemin-Bas d’Avignon neighborhood, this young man of Algerian origin was never involved in "illicit activities". He was a good young man, without a history. He was a person who did not drink, who did not smoke. If we testify today, it is to get the truth about what happened. He had no luck, he took a bullet to the heart. What we want is just that we don’t smear him. This is what makes us sad," declares Anouar, the victim’s sports educator, to francebleu.
The young people also deplore the attitude of the law enforcement. They are saddened by the fact that the police neglect their neighborhood. "The neighborhood is neglected by justice. There is a shooting in the morning and in the evening no law enforcement to secure the area! We are not taken seriously! When real things happen and the CRS have to protect the residents, then there is no one left," fumes Fouad in anger.
The family’s lawyer, Khadija Aoudia, intends to join the case as a civil party in this criminal case, it is specified.
