French Police Arrest Two Suspects in 2018 Disappearance of Mehdi Abiddar

New twist in the case of Mehdi Abiddar, a young Frenchman of Moroccan origin who has not given any sign of life since his disappearance in October 2018 near Cavaillon. On Tuesday, the police arrested two people who had just returned from Morocco and who would be linked to the case.
Two years after the disappearance of Mehdi Abiddar, the investigators of the judicial police of Avignon have arrested two suspects, in a villa in Eyragues that they believe are linked to the case.
Arrested, this Tuesday according to the newspaper La Provence, the two men aged 31 and 34, originally from the Dr Ayme district, the same neighborhood as the young missing person, would be linked to several drug trafficking cases. At the moment, their custody is still ongoing.
Let’s recall that the Mehdi Abiddar case dates back to October 26, 2018, the date of the disappearance of the 25-year-old man living with his mother. According to the facts reported at the time by La Provence, Mehdi Abiddar had passed through a shisha bar before disappearing.
According to the same newspaper, the investigations of the Avignon Judicial Police had traced Mehdi to a house in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, rented by one of the three brothers who had left hastily for Morocco. Mehdi had a dispute with the latter, the media points out.
In 2019, a year after his disappearance, the investigations opened for kidnapping and sequestration had not progressed according to the elder brother and the family’s lawyer.
