Neighbor Thwarts Attempted Kidnapping of Crypto Entrepreneur's Family in Paris

An attempted kidnapping targeting a couple took place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. The targeted couple is identified as being part of the family circle of an entrepreneur in the cryptocurrency sector. The intervention of a neighbor, Nabil, manager of a bicycle shop, was crucial in ending this attempted kidnapping in broad daylight.

According to his statements, Nabil was alerted by screams. Looking out his window, he saw a masked individual. "I recognized the voices" of his neighbors. He then went downstairs, arming himself with a fire extinguisher found in the common areas of his building. Regarding the situation he discovered, he explained: "I absolutely did not expect the scene I was about to see. In my momentum, I rushed in. Maybe my intervention helped interrupt the situation". Videos of the incident, circulating on social media, show a man and a woman on the ground, while three hooded attackers dressed in black try to force them into a van.

Faced with the three individuals, Nabil used the fire extinguisher, which caused them to flee, while highlighting the husband’s action: "It’s the husband who defended his wife, who grabbed her, and who took all the blows". During these events, a two-year-old child was secured by a waiter from a nearby café. Nabil comments: "He had this presence of mind, which allowed the father to focus on his wife, he didn’t let go".

Following these events, the three victims, who suffered minor injuries, were hospitalized. Nabil stated that he was able to talk with the couple’s relatives after the incident, noting about the father: "chatting in the usual joking tone means that the father really has a hard head".

An investigation for "attempted kidnapping" has been opened and entrusted to the anti-gang brigade (BRB). The three suspects fled in the van and are currently being sought.
