Nancy Murder Suspect Flees to Morocco; Ex-Partner Accused of Aiding Escape

Farès Ettaki left for Morocco five days after the murder of Khaled Arbouze in Nancy. His ex-partner, Aurélie, suspected of having provided him with money for his flight, explained herself at the bar on Friday.
Aurélie, 38, is one of the people arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of Khaled Arbouze in 2016. She is suspected of having in particular provided money to her ex-partner Farès Ettaki who joined Morocco on May 5, 2016. While she was in police custody, the police "bugged" her apartment. One evening, Sébastien L., also prosecuted for criminal subtraction, went to her home shortly before midnight, reports L’Est républicain. "I brought you big bills," he whispers to her. "You have the right to transport up to 10,000 €". The next day, Aurélie plans to leave for Morocco.
At the bar, she claims that "he was a friend". "In fact, he gave me 2,000 € for my vacation," she adds. This statement raises a question. "How do you explain that your partner left for Morocco?" the public prosecutor asked her. "He left for a basketball tournament and it was planned before. Then after there was Ramadan and the summer holidays. I had seen him, he was supposed to come back. After, there were the arrests in November. The police custody, his friends arrested... All of Nancy was talking about him. We said he was the mastermind of the murder or one of the shooters. That doesn’t really make you want to come back... His family advised him to stay there," Aurélie recounts.
All the people arrested and then prosecuted for "subtraction of a criminal from arrest and search" will be informed of their fate on Friday, February 19.
