Muslim Voters in France Overwhelmingly Support Mélenchon in Presidential Election

In the first round of the presidential election in France, Muslim voters overwhelmingly voted for Jean-Luc Mélenchon. 69% of them gave him their vote, according to a survey.
The candidate of France Insoumise was overwhelmingly supported by Muslims, indicates an Ifop survey for La Croix, specifying that this confessional vote allowed Jean-Luc Mélenchon to obtain 22.1% of the votes.

To carry out the study, the institute took into account the vote of 3,784 people registered on the electoral rolls, extracted from a representative sample of 4,066 people. According to the statistics, 14% of Muslim voters voted for Macron, and 7% for Marine Le Pen. On the other hand, 23% of people of Muslim faith registered on the electoral rolls voted blank.

As for Catholics, they mainly voted for Emmanuel Macron, with 29% of the votes. The candidate for his own succession is followed by Marine Le Pen with 27%, Mélenchon 14%, Zemmour 10% and Pécresse 7%.
