Muslim Tourism to Israel Surges, Led by Moroccan Visitors

The number of tourists, especially Moroccans, in Israel seems to be constantly increasing in recent years. This trend also concerns nationals of other Muslim countries, according to a report from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2015, the arrival of Muslim tourists began to gain momentum, particularly from Turkey, Indonesia, Jordan and Malaysia, knowing that the country had recorded 3,300 Moroccan tourists, writes the newspaper Assabah.
Official sources in Israel report, in 2018, an unprecedented number of visitors from Arab and Muslim countries that do not have diplomatic relations with Israel. No less than 55,000 nationals from Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have set their sights on this destination.
On the other hand, the Israeli newspaper Hareetz, cited by the same source, explains that the main destination of these tourists remains Al Quds, adding that a fatwa issued by Islamic scholars from the Gulf countries, authorizing the visit of this holy place, was at the origin of this influx of Muslims.
