Muslim Players’ Goal Celebration Sparks Controversy in Spanish Soccer

For having prostrated themselves on the pitch to celebrate with his teammate the Algerian Aissa Mandi the goal of Nabil Fékir, the central defender of Beltis FC is the subject of strong criticism.
This gesture was criticized by some Spanish media and supporters. On social networks, this particular goal celebration sparked a wave of comments.
In a tweet, Zouhair Feddal responded to silence this controversy: "Without disrespecting anyone, I will celebrate the goals of my teammates and mine as I wish. I hope I can celebrate many more."
In a show of support, many players have performed a similar celebration to celebrate their goals. A year earlier, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané had prostrated themselves after the Pharaoh’s first goal in the 2017-2018 Champions League semi-final first leg against Roma, and the photo had gone around the world.
