MREs: Massive traffic jams in Ceuta (video)

Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) caused massive traffic jams in Ceuta. They were hoping to arrive quickly in Morocco to spend the end-of-year holidays there.
The Loma Colmenar esplanade in Ceuta experienced a nightmare Saturday. At night, several vehicles were blocked there due to delays and slowness at the border. It was necessary to wait up to four hours just in this space, in addition to the delays at the border. The honking of cars disturbed the peace of the residents of Loma Colmenar and the patients admitted to the university hospital. Subsequently, the activist and imam Driss El Ouahabi shared several videos on social networks to inform about the situation.
At the origin of these traffic jams, the massive arrival of vehicles of Moroccans residing abroad (MREs), coming to spend their holidays in Morocco. This influx has generated a kind of mini Marhaba operation, reports El Faro de Ceuta. The National Police had to intervene. The Superior Police Headquarters has tasked the Police Intervention Unit (UIP) with providing fixed control, in case an incident occurred. Thanks to the intervention of the UIP, the esplanade began to clear around four o’clock in the morning. However, dozens of cars were still blocked.
