US Moves to Sell Advanced MQ-9B Drones to Morocco, Awaits Congressional Approval

The United States is negotiating the sale of at least four sophisticated MQ-9B Sea Guardian drones to Morocco. Donald Trump has transmitted an opinion on this sale to the US Congress, which must now examine it to approve or block it.
It was on Friday, December 11 that Donald Trump transmitted the said opinion to the US Congress, according to sources close to the negotiations cited by Reuters. The agency adds that the agreement also includes precision-guided Helfire, Paveway and JDAM munitions, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and Boeing.
With a range of 6,000 nautical miles, or 11,100 km, the drones can be used for various maritime and desert surveillance operations. They are manufactured by General Atomics, a defense and nuclear physics company.
This agreement with Morocco is one of the first drone sales, after the outgoing administration has implemented its plan to sell more drones to foreign countries.
