Morocco’s ’Years of Lead’ Victims Await Compensation as Pension Delays Persist

The demands of the victims of the years of lead seem to be lost in the maze of administrations. The file on the supplementary pension should be regularized at the beginning of the year, at least for some of the victims.
According to a statement from the National Human Rights Council, discussions are underway with the various bodies concerned to update the file of victims integrated into the civil service.
The clarifications of the Council were motivated by the decision of some of the victims, who had filed their files outside the allotted deadlines, to demonstrate this Thursday in front of the headquarters of the 3 regional commissions, against the delays in the implementation of the recommendations of the Equity and Reconciliation Instance regarding compensation.
The Council took care to specify that the files submitted outside the deadlines do not fall within the competence of the follow-up commissions, stressing that the IER has already ruled on the subject, and that the CNDH is willing to plead for an appropriate solution.
