Morocco World Cup Prize Money Reaches 19 Million Dollars

Morocco’s success against Canada, beaten 3-0 in the round of 16, allows the Royal Moroccan Football Federation to enter a new bracket of the financial scale set by FIFA for this World Cup. Teams that finish the competition between 5th and 8th place must receive 19 million dollars.

This amount corresponds to the sports bonus linked to their performance in the competition. It does not include the fixed sums already provided for teams qualified for the World Cup. For the 2026 edition, FIFA has increased the overall envelope for the 48 participating teams and raised the guaranteed amounts.

Each qualified federation must thus receive 10 million dollars for qualification, to which are added 2.5 million dollars for preparation. With their run to the quarter-finals, Morocco has already secured a substantial package, even before their next match against France.

A New Level Against France

The quarter-final against France will also have financial stakes. If qualified for the semi-finals, Morocco would be assured of receiving at least 27 million dollars in sports bonuses, the amount reserved for fourth place in the competition.

The sum can still increase depending on the final ranking. Third place brings 29 million dollars, a finalist spot 33 million, and the world title 50 million. The Atlas Lions’ journey can therefore still significantly increase the prize awarded by FIFA.

This progression also confirms Morocco’s growing weight in world football. In 2022, the Moroccan team had already earned 25 million dollars after finishing fourth in Qatar. Four years later, it is already close to that level, with still the possibility of doing better.
