Morocco Weighs Easing COVID Restrictions for Ramadan as Vaccination Progresses

Ramadan 2021 will begin in mid-April, on April 12 or 13. Moroccans are waiting to be informed about a possible lifting of certain restrictions in view of the progress of the vaccination campaign and the rate of vaccinated people.
As in 2020, this year’s Ramadan month will take place under particular conditions related to the health crisis. But with the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 underway, Moroccans hope for a better celebration. In particular, they are waiting to know the measures that the authorities intend to adopt to manage the epidemiological situation during this sacred month.
With the vaccination campaign underway across the country, uncertainty is growing among Moroccans as to the maintenance or relaxation of the current restrictive measures, such as the curfew or travel bans.
For the Moroccan authorities, the vaccination process is "on a very good track." In a television interview, the Minister of Health, Khaled Ait Al-Taleb, reassured that the precautionary measures against the coronavirus pandemic would be lifted during the month of Ramadan, "if the epidemiological situation remains stable and the vaccination campaign progresses rapidly."
As of February 21, according to official information, more than 2.5 million people have already received their vaccine dose throughout the kingdom.
