Morocco Warns Swimmers: 3 Beaches Deemed Unsafe in 2019 Report

As every year, the list of beaches where it is dangerous to swim in Morocco is eagerly awaited by vacationers. In 2019, there are three of them.
The Secretariat of State for Sustainable Development has just released its report on the quality of bathing water. It shows that 98.43% of the beaches are compliant.
But this year, three beaches are to be banned: that of Oued Merzeg, located in the Casablanca region. The ban concerns the first two stations, located at the main entrance, near the mouth and 200 meters north of Station 1. This is also the case for the "Jbila III" beach in Tangier and Ain Atiq, in the Rabat region.
Indeed, they have "sewage discharges and a high concentration of bathers, combined with insufficient sanitation infrastructure," it is written in the report released on Monday, June 24, 2019. The solutions to make them compliant are known: depollution of watercourses, strengthening of sanitation infrastructure in the beaches, and of course cleaning the beaches, outside the summer vacation period.
