Morocco Warns of Firm Response to Polisario’s Ceasefire Violations

The many violations of the ceasefire agreements and UN resolutions by the Polisario are not to the liking of Morocco, which threatens to respond firmly.
Morocco says it is making the effort to respect the 1991 ceasefire agreement, but it often faces military provocations from the separatists, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. In an interview with Parliament magazine, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita recalled that Morocco could retaliate at any time as soon as its security is threatened.
For the Moroccan Foreign Minister, the Polisario is used to violating the ceasefire agreements since 2016. According to him, these provocations against Morocco have multiplied at the level of the Moroccan defense wall, or by sending criminal gangs to block the passage of El Guerguerat, despite the many reminders to order from the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.
Continuing his statement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs added that Morocco has shown great restraint in containing the provocations through the establishment of multilateral and strategic consultations with the countries and institutions concerned. The Kingdom had to react on November 13 to prevent the blockade of the passage and force the separatists to leave the premises without incident.
During this interview, the minister also invited Europe to reconsider the vision of its neighbors and to take into account shared interests. Bourita assured that immigration to Europe from Morocco requires an objective treatment, because out of 100 immigrants who enter the West, less than 1% is represented by illegal immigrants from Africa.
