Morocco Unveils Tourism Recovery Plan After $9.7 Billion Pandemic Loss

In anticipation of the reopening of borders, the Ministry of Tourism has developed a program based on partnerships with international tour operators and airlines. No less than 35 agreements have already been concluded.
These agreements aim to ensure a strong recovery of tourism and a influx of foreign tourists after the opening of the borders, said Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor to parliament, adding that a communication campaign is being prepared to globally promote the destination Morocco through advertising spots that will be broadcast as soon as foreign tourists return.
This program involves partners such as: Global Caravan and FTI Touristik and airlines such as Ryanair, EasyJet and Transavia, as well as various marketing promotion means, including digital platforms of the ONMT, reports the MAP.
On this occasion, the minister presented the state of the tourism sector, which has been severely affected by the health crisis. A situation illustrated by the unprecedented 71% drop in tourist arrivals in 2021 compared to 2019, and losses, over two years, of 20 million travelers and 90 billion dirhams (MMDH) in foreign exchange earnings.
