Morocco Unveils New Strategy to Combat Corruption and Boost Development

Morocco wants to initiate a new phase in its fight against corruption, based on the New Development Model, in order to create a balanced dynamic in the service of a strong, inclusive and sustainable emergence.
If the year 2020 was not favorable for establishing a real diagnosis of the corruption situation in Morocco, due to Covid-19, the National Authority for Probity, Prevention and the Fight against Corruption (INPPLC) is already projecting itself into the future to raise awareness about this scourge.
During a press conference devoted to the presentation of the 2020 annual report, the president of the INPPLC, Mohammed Bachir Rachdi, reviewed the activities carried out during the period, and launched a plea for a new phase in the fight against corruption, in order to create a balanced dynamic in the service of a strong, inclusive and sustainable development.
According to him, this new phase of the fight against corruption must be based on the principle of the rule of law, as recommended by the New Development Model. The institution he heads is convinced of its crucial role in the anti-corruption front, he acknowledged, adding that it is pursuing the consolidation of its vision and the construction of the framework and foundations of its future action.
In his presentation, Rachdi explained that the year 2020 was a transitional period in the life of the Authority, due to the process of consultation, construction and development of the new legal framework governing its missions and actions.
