Morocco Unveils Plan to Boost Real Estate Investment for Expatriates

The housing situation of Moroccans living abroad is a concern for Nezha El Ouafi. During a meeting held on Wednesday, the Minister Delegate in charge of Moroccans living abroad encouraged them to invest in the real estate and construction sector.
Chaired by Nouzha Bouchareb, Minister of Territorial Planning, Urbanism, Housing and City Policy, with Nezha El Ouafi, Minister Delegate in charge of Moroccans living abroad, at her side, the purpose of this meeting was to improve the social level of the various categories of citizens and to achieve the post-Covid-19 economic recovery.
Several points were discussed, including "the proactive and urgent measures put in place by this ministry since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic," as well as "the simplification of procedures and the digitization of all services provided by urban agencies," according to a statement from the Ministry of Territorial Planning, Urbanism, Housing and City Policy. The same source adds that "these achievements have been reinforced by several measures taken within the framework of the 2020 supplementary finance law, in particular the total exemption from registration fees for the benefit of buyers of housing built under the 250,000 Dhs social housing program and the 140,000 Dhs low-cost housing program, and this until December 31, 2020," continues the same source. It is also learned that the two ministries have decided to strengthen communication with Moroccans living abroad on all the measures taken to "facilitate and simplify investment or real estate acquisition procedures." This, "In order to encourage Moroccans living abroad to invest in the construction and real estate sector," notes the same source.
At the end of this meeting, Nezha El Ouafi and Nouzha Bouchareb set up a joint commission between the two ministerial departments. This will work to determine practical measures and communication campaigns likely to place Moroccans living abroad at the center of the take-off of the construction and real estate sector.
