Morocco Unveils National Plan to Combat Child Exploitation in Begging

The exploitation of children for begging is the scourge that the Moroccan government intends to put an end to through a national action plan currently being developed, according to Minister Jamila El Mossali.
Speaking to the members of the House of Advisors, Jamila El Mossali addressed the issue last Tuesday. According to the explanations of the Minister of Solidarity, Social Development, Equality and Family, her department and various partners are working on the development of the National Action Plan to combat the exploitation of children for begging.
Specifically, Jamila El Mossali said that an integrated plan for childhood will also be implemented in several provinces, based on an approach based on the territorial dimension and the convergence of the actions of various stakeholders. The program will be launched in five cities.
"The problem of so-called ’street children’ is a societal issue that requires the vigilance of all stakeholders, but also the adoption of programs concerned with the protection of the family, the primary living environment of the child," said the minister.
