Morocco Unveils National Land Strategy to Boost Sustainable Development

After 15 months of work, the national land strategy document will soon be available. The announcement was made by the National Agency for Land Conservation, Cadastre and Cartography.
In a press release signed by its Director General, Karim Tajmouati, the Agency announced that it had reviewed the progress of the work on the development of the national land strategy, to the permanent interministerial commission for land policy, reports Assabah.
"Stressing the importance of land as a fundamental lever for sustainable development, King Mohammed VI had wished, during the last land conference, the adoption of an integrated, clearly defined national strategy, and its operationalization in the form of precise action plans," the statement recalls.
According to Prime Minister Saad-Eddine El Othmani, the management of the land sector in Morocco has been the subject of many studies that have revealed the incoherence of public policies and the lack of coordination between the different stakeholders.
For El Othmani, this land strategy document aims in the long run to undertake a profound reform of the land sector in legislative, organizational, procedural and institutional terms. It will be implemented according to a short, medium and long-term action plan.
