Morocco Unveils $20 Million Plan to Modernize Public Transport Fleet

The Ministry of Transport and Logistics has announced an envelope of 200 million dirhams to support the renewal of the road transport vehicle fleet, including taxis and buses.
During the oral question session at the House of Representatives, Abdessamad Kayouh, Minister of Transport and Logistics, detailed the terms of this aid. Buses over 15 years old will be able to benefit from significant financial support, up to 1.2 million dirhams. For more recent buses, less than seven years old, the aid will vary between 500,000 and 600,000 dirhams.
The minister also mentioned the importance of mixed transport, an intermediate solution offering significant services, particularly in rural and mountainous areas. This sector will also benefit from renewal assistance: 250,000 dirhams will be allocated for each vehicle retired.
Abdessamad Kayouh stressed the willingness of his ministry to accelerate the processing of files related to mixed transport. He commits to his ministry processing mixed transport files within two weeks, instead of several months previously. This speed, according to him, testifies to the recognition of the role played by this type of transport in rural and mountainous areas.
