Morocco Unveils Design for New High-Speed Train Connecting Kenitra to Marrakech

The French manufacturer Alstom and the National Railway Company (SNCF) have unveiled in Paris the design of the interior of the Avelia Horizon (TGV M) train, ordered by Morocco for the extension of the High Speed Line to connect Kenitra to Marrakech.
The interior of the Avelia Horizon train was presented to the public at the Gare de Lyon station in Paris. In first class, we see "thicker and more comfortable" seats and "huge luggage racks," informs the French press, adding that the aisles of first class will be red in color. As for second class, its aisles will be blue. Passengers in this class are not entitled to luggage racks. They will be able to slide them under their seat or keep them at their feet during the trip.
The TGV M has a two-story "Bistro" with a mezzanine. On the ground floor, the service will be free "like in a grocery store," explains Alain Krakovitch, director of TGV-Intercités, quoted by the French press. There will also be two coffee machines, a refrigerator with drinks and meals, and two automatic checkouts. Upstairs, which will have a seating capacity of 28, there will be small tables and benches. People with reduced mobility have also been taken into account in the design of this TGV.
The Avelia Horizon trains will be delivered to Morocco on time. "There are no major difficulties that lead to these delivery delays," assures Henri Poupart-Lafarge, CEO of Alstom, stressing that these delays are often due to "scheduling issues." To recall, Morocco has ordered 18 sets of this TGV for the extension of its High Speed Line to Marrakech. Paris had announced the granting of a financing of 781 million euros to Morocco as part of this project. In addition, the TGV M was awarded the prestigious German Design Award in 2021.
