Morocco Unveils Africa’s Longest Suspension Bridge to Ease Casablanca Traffic

Relief for users of Mohammed VI Boulevard in Casablanca. The authorities have announced the commissioning of the longest suspension bridge in Africa to reduce the daily traffic jams that are accentuated, especially during the month of Ramadan.
Over 1.5 kilometers long, the suspension bridge on Mohammed VI Avenue is the longest one can find on the African continent. Located at the intersection of Al Qods, Idris Al Harthi, Dakhla and Amgala Avenues, it will help reduce the traffic jams sometimes described as "a nightmare". According to Casa Transport, this road infrastructure will reduce the eight minutes that drivers are forced to observe at this intersection.
"The new bridge on Mohammed VI Boulevard will facilitate traffic at these intersections used by several modes of transport, including buses, intercity and transcontinental coaches from travel agencies, heavy goods vehicles and trams, taxis and others," said the project manager of the local development company Casa Transport.
For the manager who oversaw the completion of this infrastructure, which should have been delivered since October 2022, "this bridge has been completed in the hope that it will facilitate the movement of Casablancans and that they will be satisfied with it".
