Morocco Unveils $800 Million Tourism Investment Plan for 2024

Morocco will invest this year 8 billion dirhams in tourist accommodation, which would allow it to have 7,700 additional beds, said on Monday Fatim Zahra-Ammor, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy.
Responding to an oral question from the National Rally of Independents (RNI) group in the House of Representatives on the "national tourism strategy", Fatim-Zahra Ammor indicated that all provisions are in place for the diligent implementation of the programs included in the 2023-2026 roadmap for the sector, adding that particular attention is paid to those aimed at promoting investment.
Among these programs, the minister cited the "Cap Hospitality" whose objective is to improve the tourist offer through the granting of interest-free loans to professionals in the sector. For this program, the Ministry of Tourism has already received 72 applications through the electronic platform, the official said.
Fatim Zahra-Ammor also mentioned the "Go Siyaha" program aimed at supporting companies operating in the fields of tourism animation and entertainment. Some 256 investment projects have already been approved in this framework, the minister said.
Morocco recorded the record arrival of 13.1 million tourists in the first nine months of the year, an increase of 2 million tourists compared to the same period in 2023, said Zahra-Ammor, revealing a 7% increase in revenue to 76.4 billion dirhams, and a 10% increase in overnight stays which reached 21 million dirhams.
