Morocco's Unstoppable Lions Roar to World Record with 16th Straight Win

The Moroccan national football team has won its 16th consecutive victory by defeating Congo-Brazzaville with a score of one goal to zero. This success, obtained on the pitch of the Moulay Abdellah complex, allows the Atlas Lions to break the world record they had co-held with Spain since 2009.

This historic victory was, however, a long time in the making. Despite almost constant dominance, Walid Regragui’s players were faced with a well-organized Congolese block, which proceeded by counterattacks. The Moroccan attackers lacked efficiency and precision in the final gesture for a large part of the match.

It was necessary to wait for the second half to see the situation unblock. It was the striker Youssef En-Nesyri who scored the only goal of the match in the 63rd minute, finally concretizing the superiority of his team.

This match concluded the qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup, for which Morocco had already validated its ticket. The main issue of the evening was therefore this record, which the Moroccan selection now holds alone.
