Morocco U20 Squad Faces Sierra Leone in AFCON Quarter-Finals

After finishing the group stage of the U20 AFCON in first place in Group B, Morocco will challenge Sierra Leone, second in Group A, today in the quarter-finals. On Saturday, the Atlas Cubs held a training session in preparation for the match on the training ground of Ceramica Cleopatra club. On this occasion, national coach Mohamed Ouahbi focused on technical and tactical aspects.

This match is of crucial importance for the Moroccan team. They will seek to secure a place in the semi-finals of the continental tournament, which will automatically earn them a ticket to the FIFA U20 World Cup to be held from September 27 to October 19, 2025 in Chile. To achieve this, the Atlas Cubs must beat the tournament’s sensation, a Sierra Leonean team, which is participating for the first time in the final phase of the U20 AFCON and is performing impressively. They won the match against Egypt, the host country, with a score of 4 goals to 1, and the match against Tanzania (1-0).

The confrontation between Morocco and Sierra Leone takes place on Monday at 4 pm (GMT+1) at the June 30 Stadium in Cairo. The match can be watched live on CAF’s official YouTube channel, CAF TV, beIN Sport, Time Sports and Canal+.

What about the other fixtures on Monday’s program? Nigeria, second in Group B, will face their Senegalese counterpart, also second in Group C, on the pitch of the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia (1:00 pm). On the other side of the draw, Ghana, leader of Group C, will face Egypt, third in Group A, at 4:00 pm at the Suez Stadium, in the city of Suez. As for the Democratic Republic of Congo, third in Group C, they will meet South Africa, first in Group A, at 7:00 pm at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia.
