Morocco Transfers Hirak Protest Detainees Closer to Families, Ending Hunger Strike

Four detainees of the Hirak have been transferred from the Ras El Ma prison in Fez to the local prison of Guercif. This decision aims to bring them closer to their families.
This transfer is "within the framework of bringing detainees closer to their families in order to preserve their family and social ties," indicates the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) in a press release.
According to the DGPAR, these detainees announced on November 25 the end of the hunger strike started on November 19.
This means of protest aimed to put pressure on the management if it did not respond favorably to their demands. Demands that the DGPAR considers "illegitimate".
Furthermore, the DGAPR intends to proceed with the transfer of two other detainees, upon their request, to penitentiary establishments closer to their families.
