Morocco Traffic Accidents: 15 Dead, Over 1,700 Injured in One Week

15 people died, 1,771 others were injured, including 60 seriously, in 1,336 traffic accidents in urban areas during the week of November 23 to 29. These figures come from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
According to the DGSN, these accidents are generally caused by driver inattention, failure to yield, speeding, pedestrian inattention, lack of vehicle control, failure to maintain a safe distance, or drunk driving.
Regarding the control and repression of traffic offenses, the security services recorded 40,412 violations. They established 10,703 reports submitted to the public prosecutor’s office, and 29,709 transactional fines were collected.
The DGSN claims to have collected around 6,241,050 dirhams. It also sent 4,338 vehicles to the pound, and seized 6,183 documents and withdrew 182 vehicles from circulation.
