Morocco’s Tourist Transport Sector to Strike Over Unmet Demands

Tourist transporters announce a strike starting August 13. At the origin of this movement, the "lack of commitment" of the supervisory ministry in the face of their demands.
The members of the National Federation of Tourist Transport (FNTT), affiliated with the General Union of Enterprises and Professions (UGEP), are at odds with the supervisory authorities. In a statement dated July 29, the Federation has called on the ministry to respond to its intention to demonstrate for the rights of its members.
It believes it has used all avenues of appeal in vain, also favoring dialogue. By deciding to go on strike, the FNTT wants to confront the Ministry of Transport with its responsibilities, while reminding it that it "will have to assume the consequences" of these protests.
The tourist transport sector is one of the sectors most affected by the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, the union estimates.
