Morocco Tourism Surges as French Travelers Rush to Book Flights

French tour operators are delighted with the resumption of flights between mainland France and the Kingdom, ensuring that the decision and the incentive measures that go with it are boosting their sales figures and will generate, in the medium and long term, many positive spin-offs for the tourism sector.

French tour operators and travel agencies have been recording a very positive movement from travelers since June 15th, said the president of the French Syndicate of Tour Operating Companies (SETO), René-Marc Chikli, stressing that after the announcement of the decision, many people started booking their tickets.

The union says it is satisfied with the decision of Royal Air Maroc to extend its exceptional fares, initially dedicated to Moroccans residing abroad, to all passengers from abroad to Morocco. "It’s perfect! The less we pay for the plane ticket, the more we want to travel, the more we could spend locally," observes René-Marc Chikli. "Anything that facilitates travel today, including accessibility with interesting prices, is necessarily positive for tourism in general," he added before inviting all the airlines serving Morocco, including Air France or EasyJet, to do like Royal Air Maroc.

While tour operators and travel agencies applaud the conditions for the resumption of flights, an essential link in tourism, they nevertheless regret a late decision concerning the easing of restrictions. "Today, the summer has been amputated by three months, April, May and June. The late decisions regarding the lifting of restrictions mean that July is practically compromised. We will rather do August and September," explains Mr. Chikli, who says he wants to count on the visibility of the off-season in view of the hope aroused by the movement of recent weeks.
