Morocco's Tourism Sector Seeks Revival with New Strategy, Eyes French Market

Developing a new roadmap for the Moroccan tourism sector is the major concern of industry professionals who are in full discussion with the supervisory and Finance departments on this subject. The key points revolve around the preservation of equity and cash flow support.

Tourism professionals are working hard to save Moroccan tourism. As the holidays and year-end festivities approach, they are betting on the French market, particularly the tourism and leisure travel allowed from December 15, according to l’Économiste, estimating that the Kingdom will be able to seize this "opportunity" thanks to proximity and climate.

To achieve this, it requires "easing the conditions for accessing the national territory through the adoption of a non-anxiety-provoking health itinerary for the traveler, with tests on arrival to be carried out at airports or even antigen tests".

However, "there will be no way out of the crisis without air transport", the same source notes, indicating that it must be "consolidated with a very incentive support for airlines wishing to participate in the recovery, a dynamic partnership with RAM to help it regain market share and a subsidy for charter flights". Similarly, to promote the recovery of the sector and attract other countries, there will need to be "an agile and flexible approach with a prioritization" for the source countries.

But for now, professionals want to revise the program contract. Thus, they want the introduction of emergency measures such as the prevention of equity and cash flow support. L’Économiste talks about the negotiations between professionals and the Ministries of Tourism and Finance to put in place a new roadmap for tourism.
