Morocco Tightens Road Checkpoints to Enforce COVID-19 Travel Restrictions

After calling for compliance with the rules on movement restrictions, the time has come for control. Road safety agents have been stationed on the main road axes of the country and are carrying out rigorous checks of travel certificates.
The checks have been intensified this weekend. But it will not only be a question of travel certificates. All other offenses are also fined, since "the checkpoints are set up for a drastic control so that the instructions related to the state of health emergency are respected".
The police and gendarmerie can count on the common sense of motorists who willingly submit to this control exercise by presenting the certificate. And the control agents often combine pedagogy and rigor towards those who have left their homes without the precious document.
The road control operation has mobilized uniformed road agents, police or judicial officers, gendarmes and auxiliary forces, civil protection and the military. They ensure day and night compliance with confinement by the inhabitants. With regard to professional travel and other authorizations, "a justification is necessary to be able to come and go without any problems".
