Morocco Tightens COVID Measures in Mosques as Cases Rise

Faced with the evolution of the epidemiological situation in Morocco, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has invited the regional delegations to be rigorous in respecting the health measures inside the mosques.
Faced with the resurgence of contamination cases, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has recalled, in a note, the health measures in force. Mosque managers are thus asked to specify the prayer locations to the faithful again in order to respect physical distancing.
They are also asked to ensure compliance with the other health prevention measures in full compliance with the instructions indicated in the protocol for the reopening of mosques. "Each believer must in this sense wear the mask properly, bring his own prayer mat, store his shoes in private bags".
As for the managers, they are required to open the mosques 15 minutes before the prayers and exceptionally, 30 minutes before the Friday prayer. The ministry’s note finally indicates that the reading of the Quran is limited to the mosque managers after its closure.
