Morocco Tightens Border Screening as Global Monkeypox Cases Rise

Morocco has decided to intensify control at its borders in order to cope with the worrying increase in the number of monkeypox cases around the world.
Thus, the Ministry of Health has sent a note to the health officials on duty at the borders and to the brigadier general inspector of the health service of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), asking them to increase the level of vigilance during the checks.
"In response to the global alert on the increase in the number of cases of monkeypox disease in several countries of the world, and within the framework of the anticipatory approach of the Ministry of Health, and although the risk of community spread of this orthopoxvirus is low, all health officers at the points of entry into the national territory are requested to increase the level of monitoring and vigilance of health control at the borders, in line with the directives of the aforementioned circular and the public health emergency intervention plans at the points of entry," the ministry said.
