Morocco Thwarts 400 Cyberattacks in 2020, Protecting Public and Private Systems

During the year 2020, Morocco managed to thwart 400 cyberattacks and hacking attempts carried out by hostile individuals and states.
This cyberwar has been waged to preserve the information systems of the various public and private structures, indicates the Directorate General of Information Systems Security (DGSSI), which noted an increase in the number of attacks last year, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
To this end, several interventions have been carried out in order to protect sensitive information systems from attacks of domestic or foreign origin and to deal with any kind of threats that could target them. The objective is to guarantee the confidentiality, security and exchange of information regardless of the degree of their sensitivity, specifies the DGSSI.
To achieve this, the experts of the department have developed a 100% Moroccan encryption device. This device has been made available to sensitive infrastructures that rely on this system to protect their data, whether voice or text broadcast on various media.
Also, sophisticated encryption systems have been installed to protect data and communications. Some ministerial departments, like sensitive establishments and structures, have also adopted applications provided by the DGSSI to secure their data exchanges in the form of voice or data.
These efforts have helped advance Morocco in the field of cybersecurity. The Kingdom has thus moved from 93rd place in the world in 2018 to the 50th place currently in a ranking established by the International Telecommunication Union, the newspaper points out.
