Morocco Climbs to 43rd in Global Cybersecurity Rankings, ITU Reports

Morocco’s efforts in cybersecurity are recognized by international organizations. This year, the kingdom is ranked 43rd in the world in the fight against the phenomenon out of 194 countries, thus making a leap of 7 places compared to the 2019 ranking.
This performance is the expression of the Moroccan authorities’ determination to make cyber threats a major concern, said the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a United Nations agency, in its global cybersecurity index.
The index aims to identify gaps, serve as a roadmap to guide national strategies, inform legal frameworks, build capacity, highlight best practices, strengthen international standards and foster a culture of cybersecurity.
During this year for example, the Directorate General of Information Systems Security (DGSSI) had to intervene no less than 400 times in the face of incidents of varying magnitudes. According to the officials, these interventions are mainly aimed at minimizing risks and defending vital or sensitive infrastructures against foreign and local threats. The DGSSI has issued no less than 410 information bulletins.
