Morocco Terror Trial: Court Postpones Imlil Double Murder Case to September 18

The 24 accused in the murder of the two Scandinavian tourists in the Imlil region (El Haouz province) were, on Wednesday, September 11, before the Criminal Chamber in charge of Terrorism Cases near the annex of the Court of Appeal in Salé. On the agenda of this second hearing, the preliminary requests that will be examined at the next hearing scheduled for September 18.

This trial is drawing the full attention of Moroccans, given the charges against the accused. Indeed, these 24 men are suspected of being linked to the murder of two Scandinavian tourists, but also of belonging to a terrorist cell.

In a statement published by the MAP, Khalid Fettaoui, lawyer for one of the victims, explained that the Court decided, during this public hearing, to postpone the examination of the preliminary requests. It will rule on them after hearing the rest of the accused.

He also stated that he has received assurances of a fair trial. The implementation of an interpretation service for foreigners is a strong sign, he explained.

The first verdict of the court in this case dates back to July. The 24 defendants had been sentenced to prison terms ranging from five years to the death penalty.
