Morocco’s Synagogues Join Drought Response with Prayers for Rain

After the mosques, it is the turn of the synagogues in Morocco to host supplicatory prayers for rain.
In a press release, the Council of the Jewish Community in Morocco stresses that these prayers were organized in accordance with the instructions of King Mohammed VI "to implore the clemency of God to spread his rains" on the kingdom which is going through a major drought, the "worst in 30 years".
To manage the water shortage, the authorities have taken a series of measures including the rationalization of the distribution of drinking water, the prohibition of waste and water theft under penalty of a fine. Before the supplicatory prayers in the synagogues on December 3, the same prayers were performed on Tuesday, November 29, in the prayer areas (mousallas) and large mosques throughout the country.
