Morocco Switches to GMT for Ramadan, Will Return to GMT+1 in April

Morocco went back to GMT time last night, in accordance with the provisions of Decree 2.18.855 of October 26, 2018 relating to legal time and the Order of the Head of Government of March 6, 2023, as part of the holy month of Ramadan.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Digital Transition and Public Administration Reform, the return to legal time (GMT+1), by advancing 60 minutes, will be carried out after the end of the month of Ramadan, on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 2:00 a.m.
Morocco had decided in 2018 to no longer change time, opting for a fixed time system all year round. This decision had been made, it had been said, for economic and health reasons, in order to limit the negative impacts on the health of citizens, especially on children and the elderly. However, the country has decided to make an exception for the month of Ramadan.
