Morocco Swine Flu Outbreak: Death Toll Rises to 16 as Health Officials Respond

Swine flu (H1N1) has already killed 16 people in Morocco, according to a source within the Ministry of Health to the 2M channel.
Despite this heavy toll, the Minister of Health is trying to reassure the population, assuring that the epidemiological situation of seasonal flu does not differ from previous years.
According to Anas Doukkali, the influenza surveillance system began in Morocco in 2004 and since then 375 health centers across the kingdom have been responsible for monitoring the virus trend.
On several occasions, the Moroccan health authorities have called on the at-risk population, namely the elderly, children under six, pregnant women or other vulnerable people, to adopt healthy behavior such as washing their hands thoroughly or sneezing into a tissue and of course to get vaccinated against the disease.
