Morocco Suspends ID Services and Residence Permit Renewals Amid Coronavirus Crisis

The identity data registration centers and the services for the control and renewal of residence permits are taking a break, during the crisis related to the coronavirus pandemic. The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced this decision in a press release.
This is a temporary and exceptional decision that also involves the suspension of work at the technical services responsible for studying and issuing firearms and explosives permits for legally established professional purposes. The DGSN specifies that "this exceptional measure is an implicit extension of the validity of identity documents that expire during the period of suspension of public services".
However, with regard to urgent cases, the DGSN emphasizes that it will respond as much as possible to these requests, "in the interest of citizens and foreigners residing in Morocco". This, while strictly respecting the preventive measures put in place to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
