Morocco Suspends International Travel, Closes Schools to Combat COVID-19 Spread

Even though cases of contamination are multiplying in Morocco, the authorities are not despairing of their ability to limit the spread of the virus. To achieve this, a battery of measures have been taken and will be strictly applied in the interest, it is said, of the population.
Among the measures taken to contain the coronavirus and limit a probable spread, there is the suspension, until further notice, of air flights and passenger maritime traffic to and from all countries. There is also the suspension, starting Saturday, of activities of establishments under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The education sector has also been affected by the various measures. From Monday, May 16, classes in nurseries, educational institutions, vocational training and university institutions will be suspended until further notice. This measure applies to both the private and public sectors. Even educational institutions under Al-Quaraouiyine University and traditional teaching institutes and Koranic schools are being called upon to suspend classes as of Monday.
There is also a ban on all public gatherings of more than 50 people, and the suspension of all football matches, all categories combined, until further notice.
