Morocco Surpasses 9,000 COVID-19 Cases as New Infections Spread Across 9 Regions

The Ministry of Health announced the recording of 77 new confirmed cases of coronavirus on Thursday at 6 pm. The total number of infections is now 9,074, more than three months after the first case of covid-19 in Morocco.
In total, 9 regions have been affected by these new infections. Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, the most affected region, has 28 cases. Rabat-Salé-Kénitra has 19 cases against 18 for Casablanca-Settat. Marrakech-Safi has 7 infections. As for Fès-Meknès, Oriental, Béni-Mellal-Khénifra, Guelmin-Oued Noun and Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, they each record a single case of infection.
In addition, 48 recoveries were recorded, bringing the number of recovered cases to 8,041. As for deaths, they stand at 213 since the start of the pandemic with a mortality rate well below the average.
Faced with the epidemiological situation of the country and due to the long period of confinement, the Moroccan Society of Pediatrics calls on the health authorities to take into account "the psychological impact and the resulting trauma".
