Morocco Strengthens Commitment to Global Fight Against Organized Crime

Morocco reaffirms its determination to support international efforts to combat organized crime in its various forms. This is what the Minister of Justice, Mohamed Ben Abdelkader, declared on Friday in Tetouan.
During a communication meeting organized by the Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with the Tetouan Bar Association, the Minister of Justice, Mohamed Ben Abdelkader, indicated that the 2011 constitution, which considers that the international conventions ratified by Morocco take precedence over national legislation, justifies the Kingdom’s determination to support international efforts regarding the fight against organized crime. Through this constitutional principle, Morocco has taken several legislative and institutional measures to fight this scourge.
In view of some negative observations recorded, "it has become necessary and urgent to combine the efforts of the various financial and non-financial professions, through the implementation of the legal obligations imposed on the legal and judicial professions," the minister hammered.
Thus, lawyers are involved in this system aimed at immunizing the kingdom against money laundering and the financing of terrorism, said the president of the Tetouan Bar Association, Mohamed Kamal Mehdi, noting that lawyers are participating in the draft amendment of law 43.05.
For the record, this meeting is part of the presentation of the content of the draft amendment of law 43.05, following the developments known at the national and international levels and the transformations recorded in organized crime.
