Morocco Strengthens Anti-Doping Laws to Align with World Standards

The Council of Government, meeting on Thursday, adopted Decree No. 2.20.805. It modifies and supplements Decree No. 2.18.303, relating to the entry into force of Law No. 97.12 on the fight against doping in the field of sport in Morocco.
The objective of this decree is to be able to harmonize the texts in order to bring them up to the same level as the new World Anti-Doping Code, which sets the standards in terms of granting licenses for the use of prohibited substances and processes for therapeutic purposes. The new decree is also part of the 2021 International Standard for Testing and Investigations.
The Minister of National Education, government spokesman, Saaïd Amzazi, indicated in a press release read at the end of the weekly meeting of the Council, that it was important for Morocco to update itself with international provisions, otherwise it could face constraints, since the new provisions come into force on January 1, 2021.
