Morocco Streamlines Border Crossing for Returning Expats at Ceuta

Facilitating the return of Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) through the Ceuta border post. This is the objective pursued by the authorities of the prefecture of M’diq-Fnideq by setting up a rest area and six new transit corridors.
The authorities, in coordination with the actors involved in the organization of the Marhaba Operation 2023, have taken measures to facilitate the return of MREs through the Ceuta border post. Thus, a new rest area has been created to avoid traffic jams and reduce waiting times for MREs, reports the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia, specifying that in addition to the tents set up to shelter them, shops, cafes, restaurants and sanitary facilities have been installed to facilitate their return to their countries of residence under good conditions.
The Mohammed V Foundation has set up a mobile health unit to provide emergency care and first aid to MREs in transit, and those with chronic illnesses in particular. Measures have also been taken to accelerate control procedures and passport stamping in order to reduce waiting times. With these measures, the return of MREs is proceeding normally and without incident at the Ceuta border post, say authorized sources. To facilitate transit, the local authorities have also created six new dedicated lanes for buses, motorcycles and urgent cases.
