Morocco Shifts to Remote Learning in COVID-19 Hotspots as Schools Reopen

Distance learning will be a priority in cities classified as epidemic hotspots. The Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research considers it necessary for the well-being of students and teachers.

Since this Monday, September 7, it is the start of the school year in Morocco. In accordance with the latest instructions given by the supervisory authority, students in public and private schools and even those in foreign missions located in neighborhoods that have recorded high contamination rates will be entitled to distance learning until further notice.

The list of establishments concerned by this measure is published at the level of each provincial directorate by the regional academies of education and training, reports the Map, which points out that students from families where some members are carriers of the virus are also concerned by the measure.

The ministry’s press release states that students who do not fall into either of the two cases will be welcomed from September 7 to 9 within the school establishments in small groups, in compliance with preventive measures and barrier gestures. And for the success of this process which requires more effort and understanding, the actors at various levels are invited to mobilize more.
