Morocco Sets Sights on Olympic Games, Leveraging AFCON and World-Class Stadiums

Morocco, which will host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) this year, is aiming to host the Olympic Games.
"Morocco will consider hosting the Olympic Games in the future, in the context of the major sports development that our country is experiencing thanks to the strategic vision" of King Mohammed VI, said Abdelmalek Abroun, president of the infrastructure commission at the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) during his participation in a sports program on 2M. To achieve this, the kingdom is relying on its sports infrastructure. "The Hassan II Stadium in Casablanca, the largest in the world, will have a sports village, which will strengthen the Kingdom’s candidacy to host the Olympic Games in the future," Abroun specified.
Regarding the stadiums that will host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON Morocco), he announced that they are in the delivery phase and that the final touches are underway before their official inauguration. "All the stadiums, especially those in the capital Rabat, will be delivered before next October," he specified, noting that the large Moulay Abdellah stadium could host an international match of the Moroccan national team next September as part of the qualifications for the 2030 World Cup.
In addition to the Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup, Morocco will also host the Club World Cup and the Futsal World Cup, Abroun added.
