Morocco Sets Hajj Pilgrimage Cost at 50,445 Dirhams for 2024

The royal commission in charge of the pilgrimage met on Monday in Rabat to decide on the settlement of the pilgrimage fees for the year 1441 of the Hegira. It will take place from March 2 to 13, in a single payment, both for the official circuit and for travel agencies.
The commission set the pilgrimage fees at 50,445 dirhams, an amount that does not include pocket money. However, it takes into account the accommodation and meal costs in Mecca and Medina, transportation and additional services in Arafat and Mina, the transportation of luggage, additional buses inside the Holy Sites, the round-trip travel ticket, the supervision fee, and vaccination costs. The payment of the fixed amount will be made at the Al Barid Bank offices in the various prefectures and provinces of the kingdom.
The 50,445 dirhams also cover the cost of the visa issuance tax of 300 Saudi riyals excluding VAT, and the comprehensive insurance tax set at 100 Saudi riyals excluding VAT, as well as the VAT in force in Saudi Arabia (5%). The price of a round-trip ticket to the Holy Sites has been set at 11,000 dirhams including tax, and 9,500 dirhams including tax for members of the Moroccan official delegation.
As for vaccination against meningitis and flu, it will cost 419 DH, compared to 480 DH last year. Regarding pocket money, each pilgrim must use the special pilgrimage allocation, set by the Foreign Exchange Office at 15,000 DH, or use the tourist allocation capped at 45,000 DH. The increase recorded in the pilgrimage fees, which stands at 538 DH, is due to the taxes and services instituted by the Saudi authorities.
Among the novelties this year is the increase in the number of pilgrims coming from Morocco, which this year has reached a total of 34,000 pilgrims. They will be selected based on the waiting lists during the second payment phase starting this year. There is also the strengthening of the bus fleet for transportation in the Holy Sites by 150 additional buses, and the improvement of the quality of meals and air conditioning in Mina.
