Morocco Set to Lift State of Emergency on May 20, Citing Economic Urgency

The confinement period will not be extended in Morocco beyond May 20. After two months of shutdown, it is necessary to think about restarting the economic machine.
According to Le360 citing a government source, the decision to lift the state of health emergency in effect since March 20 would be justified by "the continuous improvement of the indicators for monitoring the epidemic and the urgency to resume economic activities".
For the moment, the procedure and stages of deconfinement throughout the kingdom, where the extent of the spread of the pandemic differs from one region to another, have not yet been specified.
At this date, nearly 170 deaths have been recorded since March 2, the date of the announcement of the first case of contamination. Moreover, for a few days now, the mortality rate has dropped significantly. It has reached a level well below those observed in rich countries, with a much more modern health system in the kingdom.
