Morocco Set to Extend COVID-19 State of Emergency for Third Time

Already renewed twice in a row, the state of health emergency and confinement should not be lifted on June 10, 2020 in Morocco. They will be extended for a third time.

This renewal of deadlines is justified by an epidemiological situation not yet under control, with companies that are not yet eager to have all their staff tested, reports Le360.

This 3rd extension will be officially announced by the Head of Government on Wednesday, June 10, the date coinciding with the end of the 3rd period of the state of emergency. According to the same source, the extension of the state of health emergency will be taken by a decree of the Head of Government. It should be extended until "the end of June and could be extended beyond, depending on the evolution of the epidemiological situation".

While several people are reluctant to move on to a second stage of extension, it is important to know that European countries have renewed the state of emergency and confinement several times before moving on to the deconfinement stage.

"We do not want to lose the benefits obtained so far in the fight against Covid-19, because the six indicators, including those of lethality, contamination and resuscitation, are currently all in the green," said a government source. Several private companies also refuse to submit their staff to screening tests. They are wondering about the party that should cover the cost of these tests.

Moreover, the national solidarity that prevailed during this crisis and which allowed an exploit hailed by the sub-regional, continental and global community should be maintained to get through the post-covid period and allow the national economy to relaunch.
